The App Store matches a search against any combination of the words in your name, subtitle and keyword field, so a listing with fifteen distinct words already covers dozens of two-word phrases you never typed. Most developers track only the phrases they wrote. The mixer in RankASO's Studio builds every phrase your listing covers, checks which ones the store actually completes, and shows which single new word would unlock the most new phrases. It is the fastest way to find keywords you already rank for and did not know about.

The keyword mixer in RankASO's Studio, phrases built from the listing's own words

What your words already cover

Take our own app Escape: name "Escape - Adult Content Blocker", subtitle "Quit Corn. Block Every Site." Seven useful words. Combined, they cover "adult content blocker", "content blocker", "adult blocker", "corn blocker", "block corn", "site blocker", "block every site", "quit corn" and more, and four of those are number one in the US store with no field characters spent. Those phrases were not chosen; they fell out of the combination.

What the mixer does

  1. Lists every phrase of two and three words that the listing's words can form, per locale.
  2. Keeps the ones the store completes. A combination nobody types is not a keyword; the mixer checks each phrase against the store's own search completions and keeps the ones that appear.
  3. Scores the survivors for popularity and difficulty and gives each a verdict, so the list arrives sorted.
  4. Shows the unlock. For each candidate word not yet in the listing, how many new completed phrases it would form with the words already there. One word that unlocks ten phrases is worth more than three words that unlock one each.

Why a word's unlock count matters

The keyword field has room for about fourteen words. A word judged alone earns a rank on one term; a word judged by what it combines with can earn ranks on many. "block" in Escape's subtitle combines with "adult", "content", "corn" and "site" from the name and field; it is the most productive word in the listing. The mixer finds the next one like it.

On-device phrasing

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, the mixer can also propose phrasings for a new word in the subtitle that read naturally rather than as a list, working from the facts the app already computed. It writes words, never numbers, and everything it suggests is checked against the store's completions like any other phrase. On phones without it, the mixer works the same way without the prose.

What to track from it

Every completed phrase with a verdict of Climbable or better goes into tracking, so the field report can later tell you which words earn ranks through combinations and which do not. A word with no phrase under it in the report is a word the mixer can replace.

Questions

Does the App Store combine keywords from the title and keyword field?

Yes. Words from the name, subtitle and keyword field are matched in any combination, so one new word can complete many phrases with words you already have.

How do I find keywords I already rank for?

Build every phrase your listing's words can form, keep the ones the store completes, and track them. RankASO's mixer does this from your current listing and scores each phrase.

Which keyword should I add next?

The one that forms the most completed phrases with the words already in your listing. The mixer shows that count per candidate word.
