ASO without an account: why RankASO collects nothing
Read in: 日本語 · 简体中文 · Português · Español · Deutsch
RankASO has no account because it does not need one. Your iPhone reads the public App Store for the storefronts you track, keeps the ranks in a database on the phone, and syncs that database through your own iCloud if you turn sync on. There is no RankASO server in the middle, so there is nothing to sign into and nothing for us to collect. The App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected, and that is a description of how the app is built, not a promise we are asking you to trust.

What leaves your phone
Three kinds of requests, and nothing else.
- Searches to the public App Store. The same requests the App Store app makes when you search. They carry the keyword and the storefront. Nobody, including us, learns which app you are tracking, because your app's rank is read from the result on the phone.
- Your own iCloud, if you turn it on. Your history goes into a private database tied to your Apple ID. Apple hosts it; only your Apple ID can read it; we cannot see it or count it.
- Your own Apple Ads account, if you connect it. Optional. The phone talks to your account directly with a key made on the phone, and the key never leaves it.
There is no analytics kit, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier and no tracking consent sheet, because there is nothing to consent to. You can confirm it on the App Store listing or in the phone's privacy settings.
Why
Your keyword list is your strategy. For a one-person studio it may be the most valuable document the company has. Every web ASO tool stores it on their servers, and most pool what their users track into "trending keyword" reports. That is a fair trade when you know you are making it. We did not want to make it, so we built the tool so that the trade is impossible.
The second reason is that the data is not ours. The ranks come from the public store. The judgement about which keyword to attack is yours. The app computes some numbers in between and explains each of them on a facts sheet. None of that needs a server.
What it costs us, honestly
- We cannot see how you use the app. No funnels, no retention charts, no "most tracked keywords". We find out what works by asking, through support email and reviews.
- No web dashboard. The data is on your phone and in your iCloud. If you want it on a desk, export CSV or JSON from More → Your data.
- No ranks for apps you never tracked. History starts the day you add a keyword. Nothing is bought from a data vendor.
We think these are the right trades for an indie tool, and the free plan lets you decide for yourself: one app, 30 keywords, two storefronts, checked every day.
Deleting everything
More → Privacy → Delete everything removes every record on the phone and in your iCloud database, the backups and the widget's data, and returns the app to its first screen. There is no account to close because there was never one.

Questions
Does RankASO see which app I am tracking?
No. The search goes to the public App Store; your app's position in the result is found on the phone. Nothing is sent to us at any point.
Where is my rank history stored?
On your iPhone, with local backups taken before each app update, and in your own private iCloud database if you turn sync on. A new iPhone restores from iCloud on first launch.
How do you make money without an account?
Through the App Store. Pro is a subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock bought with your Apple ID. Apple handles the purchase; we never see your name or payment details.
